Toronto-based DJ and producer Junior Lopez, originally from Ecuador, began his music career in 1983, coinciding with the rise of Chicago House music. His Afro-Latino and Indigenous South American roots are evident in his performances and productions, drawing influences from hip-hop culture and salsa. Junior’s diverse musical taste, shaped by artists like Hector Lavoe, Kraftwerk, and Afrika Bambaataa, led him to transition from open-format DJing to house music. Signed to several international and Canadian labels, including Wiggle Room Records, Sunrising Records and InStereo, he runs Unrestricted Records and promotes spreading good vibes through music.
