Photography and video capture

By attending an event, you consent to be photographed or video recorded, and your image or likeness may be used for promotional purposes on our social media channels, website, and other marketing materials. Rest assured, the professional photographer will respect your privacy while capturing the spirit of the night and will carefully handle all media. If you have any concerns or wish to opt out of being photographed or recorded, please inform one of our staff members upon arrival.

We do not take or post photos online, such as Facebook, if it is not welcomed. Contact Us to have a photo removed from social media or the website. We don’t sell or supply high-resolution photos to anyone. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you enjoy the night.

We’re excited for participants to share their experiences with friends such as on Instagram. Attitudes towards being photographed for artistic expression differ a lot between individuals. Of course, do not take or post a photo online if it’s not welcome. We recommend that people nod or gesture approval to each other before or after taking pics and videos. We take complaints seriously if someone is not respected as per our Code of Conduct.

Permission-based marketing messages

We want your permission to communicate via email or text via our message provider Brevo. We adhere to Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) with covers implied and express consent to receive marketing messages. You will receive event news from us if you either purchased tickets from us in the past or subscribed for updates from our website. You may unsubscribe from our email or SMS anytime by following the direction at the end of each message. Select the unsubscribe link or type STOP. Please contact us if you have a request, suggestion, or question.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Site comments

When people leave comments on the site it collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the person’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service (profile avatars) to see if you are using it. See Gravatar’s privacy policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, music, etc.) from Facebook, Instagram, Soundcloud, Mixcloud, TikTok, and YouTube. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We don’t share your data with third parties beyond the utilities mentioned on this page. We don’t sell your data. Information submitted to the website will be reviewed by our internal staff.

Google Analytics and WordPress are used to gain insights on trends and improve the functionality of the website. Google Analytics and WordPress store cookies on your device to keep track of usage data over time. There’s an opt-out browser add-on from Google that helps make opting out easy. Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service called Akismet.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website, it also stores the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you leave a comment in the news blog, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data it holds about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
