Bringing ‘black girls’ of the underground persuasion together in one space, the title is a play on the term ‘black girl magic’. This dance music, in the ‘black’ style, is uplifting, soulful, punchy, and emotional. It lends a dimension to House and techno that no other kind of sound or voice can. It never left in the 90s.

RISE is an event series to provide a platform to women, queer, trans, people of colour, non-binary, gender nonconforming, and two-spirit performers in an industry that is recovering from being historically cis-male dominated. Wiggly Events and Wiggle Room are proud to provide a Safer Dance Space to these communities and a platform for artists to flourish.

@theshineprjct is a music and lifestyle blog platform also focused on live underground events and discussion.
